Narara Island, near Jamnagar, has been declared a Marine National Park. This area is home to various types of marine life and coral. However, even before it was declared a national park, a 40-year-old oil pipeline from a company passed through this region. The pipeline needed to be replaced, but due to national park regulations, that wasn’t possible.

So, a joint team from the Forest Department and Geological Department launched a first-of-its-kind mission in the country. They shifted more than 16,000 marine creatures and coral about 5 kilometers away from the site. According to R.F. Parbat Karamur from the Marine Narara Island, over 90% of the shifted coral survived and is growing well.
This is the first time such a mission has been successfully carried out in the country by both the forest and geology departments together. So, how did you like our content?
