The journey from Gangaur Bazaar to C-Scheme is not just about Jaipur’s changing landscape—it is also a journey through Rajasthan’s political history.
In 1952, the first session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly was held at Sawai Man Singh Town Hall. During those early years, leaders would often look out from the Town Hall windows and witness the public protesting outside—a powerful reflection of the social and political atmosphere of the time.
Sawai Man Singh II originally built the Town Hall for Maharani Chandravati. After her passing, the building was transformed into a public assembly hall. Its distinctive architecture was designed by Colonel Swinton Jacob, beautifully blending Rajasthani and colonial influences.
From Town Hall to the New Assembly
In March 2001, Rajasthan got its new Legislative Assembly complex in C-Scheme. Spread across 16 acres, the modern campus represents the changing face of Rajasthan’s governance.
